We are pleased to present the 2004 Fort Dodge/Webster County Laborshed Analysis completed by Iowa Workforce Development’s Community Workforce Research & Development Unit and sponsored by MidAmerican Energy and the Development Corporation of Fort Dodge and Webster County. This report contains valuable workforce information to assist local leaders, existing industry, and site selectors with business expansion/relocation initiatives. Some of the information found in this report consists of commuting patterns, current and desired wages/salaries, available labor, workforce skills, and employment numbers/percentages by industry in the Laborshed area. Workforce education and training programs are available through Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. Additional professional and skills development programs are available through Buena Vista University (located on the ICCC Campus) and Iowa State University (a 45-minute drive).
Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) provides a variety of workforce education and training programs to meet employers' needs for well-educated, highly skilled workers.

ICCC administers Iowa's job training program, one of the most unique and flexible training programs in the country. The Iowa Industrial New Jobs Training Program (260E) assists businesses, which are creating new positions, with new employee training. Eligible businesses may be new to Iowa, expanding their Iowa workforce, or relocating to the state. Employees qualifying for training services must be in newly created positions and pay Iowa withholding taxes. A corporate tax credit is also available to companies that enter into a 260E agreement and increase Iowa employment by at least 10 percent.
ICCC also administers the 260F Iowa Jobs Training Program that helps to fund customized training for current employees that are located in Iowa. Job training services are defined as any training needed to enhance the performance of a business' employees.
